Everhart, who made her name as a supermodel in the 1990s with appearances in fashion mags as well as the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition, "wants to set the record straight by letting everyone know that it is true that she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer," her rep told "Extra," "however, the prognosis is very good."
Everhart, who's also an occasional actress — she'll be seen next in comedy film "Wedding Pact" with Haylie Duff, Hilary Duff's older sister — is set to undergo surgery Tuesday.
"She ... expects to be back to work and to mommy duties in a few weeks," the rep said. "The most important reason she is revealing this information is to encourage people to learn about cancer prevention, its signs and treatment immediately."
Sofia Vergara recently discussed her own thyroid issues, and "Dancing With the Stars" cohost Brooke Burke-Charvet went public with her thyroid cancer diagnosis last November, keeping fans posted through her surgery and beyond.
